New Resort at Downtown East on track to open in 2015

  • Chalet lovers can continue to enjoy Costa Sands Resort facilities at Downtown East and Sentosa

Holiday-lovers, mark your calendars for the second quarter of 2015! The new resort at Downtown East is slated to open by 2nd quarter next year and will provide fun and sun for all, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Part of the 5-year Refreshing Downtown East redevelopment project, the resort will comprise of 387 rooms of varying accommodation types, including suites with separate dining and living rooms, to meet the different needs of guests. Designed to highlight the natural beauty of the Pasir Ris landscape, the resort, which will be bigger in size than Costa Sands Resort (Downtown East), will feature three clusters of rooms offering beach view, park view and mangrove view accommodations.

The opening of the new resort will give the public a first taste of the refreshed Downtown East. The redevelopment project, undertaken in phases and targeted for completion in late 2017, aims to offer guests at Downtown East an integrated leisure experience. Along with the new resort, guests will enjoy an expanded Wild Wild Wet water park and more retail, dining and entertainment options.

Focusing its resources on the Refreshing Downtown East project, NTUC Club, which manages Costa Sands Resort, has decided not to renew the land lease for the nearby Costa Sands Resort (Pasir Ris) located at Jalan Loyang Besar which expires in August 2014. Come 20 July 2014, NTUC Club will bid a fond farewell to the 163-room holiday resort located within Pasir Ris Park, which has became a favourite for friends and family to gather for a chalet stay. Meanwhile, the two other Costa Sands Resort properties at Downtown East and Sentosa will remain open for those looking for an affordable and easy staycation venue.

In line with the Labour Movement’s pledge to Value Every Worker, NTUC Club is already working on redeploying the 30 staff currently working at Costa Sands Resort (Pasir Ris) to other suitable roles within the organisation.

“After 12 years of providing a place for fun getaways for families and friends, NTUC Club is sad to announce the closure of Costa Sands Resort (Pasir Ris),” said Mr Yeo Khee Leng, Chief Executive Officer, NTUC Club. “We hope that our guests have some treasured memories of the good times they’ve had there, and we look forward to welcoming them at Costa Sands Resort at Downtown East and Sentosa, as well as at our new resort at Downtown East when it opens in the 2ndquarter of 2015.”

Guests who would like to enjoy one last getaway at Costa Sands Resort (Pasir Ris) can book their stays at The last available date for booking is 19 July 2014. Bookings for Costa Sands Resort at Downtown East and Sentosa are also available on the website, with attractive deals available for the June school holidays. More details on the new resort at Downtown East will be unveiled later this year.

Work out under the stars to the hottest K-Pop songs at KeepFit! 2015
